Daily Southern African Tourism Update
The harvest season is always an important time for winemakers. At Mont Rochelle, Sir Richard Branson’s Hotel and Vineyard in Franschhoek, South Africa, resident winemaker Dustin Osborne oversees the harvest that usually takes place in March each year.

Last year was a particularly busy year for Dustin as he has been overseeing the planting and cultivation of a new variety of grape in order to produce a new Mont Rochelle wine.

Miko White 2015, the latest addition to the Mont Rochelle wine menu, was produced in honour of the late Mr. Miko Rwayitare, Mont Rochelle’s previous owner.

Under Dustin’s expert supervision, Miko White is only produced in exceptional vintages, ensuring that the best wine possible is bottled in Miko’s memory. Minimal intervention in the cellar ensures that all Miko wines are the ultimate expression of Mont Rochelle's terroir. Pale straw green in colour, Miko White 2015 boasts beautiful stone fruit nuances and fresh citrus and lime tones including butterscotch and orange peel aromas. The palate is complex and is well balanced by a finely judged and elegant toasty oak component.

Guests staying at Mont Rochelle will be able to sample our range of wines during daily wine tasting sessions or at either of the on-site restaurants, the Country Kitchen or Miko. If you’re unable to visit, Mont Rochelle’s delicious wines can also be bought online.
