The exclusive two-day event will include delicious food, live music and tastings of Pinot Noir produced by 11 wineries in the area. Highlights include a Tasting led by Michael Fridjhon where the winemakers will give their personal impressions of the ‘heart break’ grape, while international guest speaker James Dicey will take guests through a flight of five Pinot Noirs from Central Otago, in a comparison between South African and New Zealand wines.
Individual farms will present various smaller events on the Saturday. Bouchard Finlayson’s interesting "Pinot ‘Musically’ Un-puzzled" programme will include a select tasting of international and South African Pinot Noirs. Guests will enjoy an interactive musical quiz to challenge the mind and tantalize the palate, followed by a delicious light lunch in the Bouchard Finlayson homestead cellar.
The Pinot Noir Celebration will provide a platform for Bouchard Finlayson’s award-winning Galpin Peak and Tête de Cuvée. The latter presents a selection of the estate’s top Pinot Noir barrels from a particular vintage and showcase the very best of the terroir as a unique combination of soil and climate, where the exact balance provides the perfect expression of this elusive grape. Guests will also have the opportunity to taste the 2013 Galpin Peak Pinot Noir, which has received wide acclaim locally and abroad, scoring a 5-star Platter rating and receiving Platinum Status - the highest honour - in the 2016 South African Wine Index (SAWi). The 2013 vintage also scored 94 points in Hong Kong at the Great Wines of the World, and won a Gold medal in the prestigious 2016 Global Pinot Noir Masters awards, which rate the finest Pinot Noirs in the world.
