SASA
SASA is proud to give feedback of our fifth members AGM which was held on Monday, 28th November 2016 at Houghouse Brewing Company, Ndabeni.

Attendance was open to all members and voting members had the opportunity to forward nominations for a new SASA Executive Committee (board) during the weeks building up to the meeting.

A New board was elected at the AGM.

SASA is a not-for-profit, membership driven organisation, established in 2011 to promote the sommelier profession in South Africa.

After a warm welcome from current Chairman Higgo Jacobs , he went through the agenda starting with the financial report of the previous year and giving feedback on achievements and SASA’s involvement in industry related projects especially in the great improvement in the education of Sommeliers this year.

2016 has shown a rapid growth in members and SASA is positive about further growth, as more and more people are becoming aware of the importance of wine service in our growing tourism industry.

We would like to encourage wine professionals and wine lovers to visit our website for details of our events and tastings, industry updates, and our expanding classifieds platform.

SASA would like to take this opportunity to thank the 2016 Board for their hard work and contribution to making a difference in the sommelier profession in South Africa. We strongly believe that the new board will follow in your footsteps in forwarding our cause.

Without any objections the new Executive Committee for 2017 was elected with a unanimous result:

Higgo Jacobs - re-elected - Chair
David Clarke - re-elected- Vice Chair
Joakim Hansi Blackadder - re-elected - Education
Manuel Cabello- Newly elected - Events
Spencer Fondaumiere- Newly elected- Treasury
Tinashe Nyamudoka- Newly elected - Memberships

SASA extends a warm welcome to the four new members on the board and look forward to achieving more goals and creating a bigger awareness of wine service in South Africa in 2017!
