Morgenster Estate
All heritage buildings and infrastructure were thankfully untouched.
Cellar master, Henry Kotzé, said that at harvest time the utmost care will be taken to ensure that only pristine grapes are used in wine production to ensure perfect quality.
Giulio Bertrand, owner of Morgenster, thanked the staff of Morgenster, the City of Cape Town management and municipality, Somerset West Neighbourhood Watch, Working on Fire, Enviro Wildfire Services and the Cape Peninsula Fire Protection Association for their professional and timely response which limited the damage to the farm.
“Our neighbours, Vergelegen, Lourensford, Hathersage, Boskloof and other producers who lent a helping hand, as well as the Somerset West community have been incredibly supportive. We thank them from our hearts”, Bertrand said.
