Food, wine and romance: The perfect Valentine’s Day combination

With panoramic views of Table Mountain, Durbanville Hills invites guests to treat their loved ones with a delectable meal on the most romantic evening of the year.

Head chef, Louisa Greeff, has conceptualised an exquisite menu which boasts a selection of signature dishes off the current seasonal menu as well as a few specially crafted items for the evening.

Upon arrival, guests will be greeted with a chilled glass of the award-winning Durbanville Hills Blanc de Blanc Méthode Cap Classique paired with fresh oysters.

Following appetisers, guests will enjoy a delectable platter for two, accompanied by a glass of red or white wine from the winery’s Durbanville Hills collection to amplify the vivid culinary experience. Among the dishes included in the platter are homemade chicken, brie, fig and almond sausage served with sweet chilli mayonnaise, fishcakes with smoke salmon and flavoured pearls, prawn ceviche with a baby leaf salad, caramelised tomato tarte tatin with a creamy gorgonzola mousse, braised pork neck stuffed with Healey’s cheddar and caramelised onions, grilled beef fillet with roasted garlic puree and seared salmon slices served with soy and pink peppercorn dressing.

The evening will be concluded on a sweet note with a beautifully prepared dessert platter filled with indulgent treats, paired with Bisquit Cognac and a glass of Rhinofields Reserve Noble Late Harvest. The platter features dark chocolate mousse, sabayon (an Italian dessert made with egg yolks, sugar and sweet wine), macarons, cinnamon palmiers, langues de Chat biscuits, meringues, brandy snaps, fresh fruit, two types of cheeses served with preserves, peppermint creams and tea or coffee.

Each couple will then receive a box of sweet treats and a bottle of Durbanville Hills Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc to enjoy at home.
