TOPS at SPAR Wine Show
Known for its offbeat sense of humour and interactive wine theatres that don’t take themselves too seriously, the TOPS at SPAR Wine Show has created a name for itself as the go-to show that packages up a good time with access to hundreds of local wines invenues in Johannesburg, Durban, PE, Pretoria, Nelspruit, and as of December 2017, Cape Town.

Last year the show revealed its sassy streak with its Greatest Show Unearthed theme. This year, visitors can get lost in a world of #Winederland, an edu-taining experience where South Africa’s finest vintages and varietals are expertly elevated with food pairings, fantasy and festivity, and available at cellar door prices to taste and buy.

“We’re gearing up to the start of the show’s 2017 season and are excited to present our new theme. Conceptually we’ll be taking #Winederland up an even higher notch and going all out to create an event for visitors that is playful, a little cheeky and connects them with the stars of the show, the wines and their producers,” says the TOPS at SPAR Wine Show’s organiser, Andrew Douglas.

The vintage-inspired theme was a huge hit last year and even scooped the show Best Consumer Exhibition at the Association of African Exhibition Organisers (AAXO) in the 1 - 6000m² category, a true feather to add to its avant-garde cap.

This industry cred - not to mention the 50 000 bottles of wine that were consumed or purchased during its 2016 shows - also secured the show an extension of its headline sponsorship from TOPS at SPAR to 2020.

“There is great synergy between the TOPS at SPAR brand and the Wine Show; both appeal to wine lovers, not snobs, and are committed to showcasing a range of South African wines to the public in a fun and memorable way,” says Douglas. “To be recognised by AAXO and to secure support from our long-standing partner, TOPS at SPAR, is an honour and we’re delighted to continue with them on this journey of discovering the wonders of wine.”

The show kicks off on 25th May at its new venue, Montecasino, in Johannesburg for three days before taking Durban by storm between 8th and 10th June. Port Elizabeth follows between the 27th and 29th July, Pretoria between 24th and 26th August and Nelspruit takes place between 30th November and 2nd December. Cape Town is the Grand Finale and the show will be presented in all its shirazmatazz for the first time in the Mother City between 14th and 16th December.

VIP and general admission tickets go on sale from March through ticketpro.co.za and various hospitality packages are available this year too. Follow its Facebook page to stay in the loop and follow the show through the year.
