There is always much talk about BEE companies that are not making it, so it is gratifying to see German Parliamentarians visiting a successful business in the Winelands.

Compagniesdrift, a bottling, storage, labelling and now also wine-making BEE company is situated on the R310, and regularly receives visitors from various governmental agencies.  On Friday 7th April, a delegation from the German Parliament took a tour through the facility.

Western Cape Dept of Agriculture Head, Joyene Isaacs and their Director of Business Planning and Strategy, Dr Dirk Troskie hosted the delegation who are keen to look at investments in the Agricultural sector in South Africa.

The group were accompanied by Mr RD Kolja Barch (the Secretariat of the German Parliament), Mr Erik Schneider (Head of the Agricultural Department at the German Embassy in Pretoria) and Ms Renate Lydia Wolf, their interpreter.

The delegation comprised various members of the Parliamentary Committee on Food and Agriculture, viz Mr Alois Gerig, Mr Artur Auernhammer, Mr Hermann Farber, Ms Rita Hagl-Kehl, Dr Wilhelm Priesmeier, Dr Kirsten Tackmann and Mr Haral Ebner. They were impressed by the cleanliness, friendliness and efficiency of the facility.

They were taken around the facility by Ilse Ruthford, the GM of Compagniesdrift and Bossie Boshoff and were treated to a tasting of some of their wines - presented by Roselien Malgas.
