The management of the Veritas Wine Awards held a workshop last year to discuss a number of ideas for the future of the awards.

Veritas Awards is the longest running wine competition in South Africa for market ready wines and fulfil an important role as guideline for consumers.

Says Charles Hopkins, Chairman of Veritas: ”One of the areas that has been identified is for social media to play a greater role to keep the industry and consumers informed on a regular basis. This will include the need for more wine business and wine making opinions and views  to be obtained and communicated  on digital fields. This can create  knowledge transfer and interesting conversations among wine stakeholders to be of value for everyone involved”.

Our new partner on social media, Johan Schwartz will gather opinions and views and publish it on the Veritas social media platforms .

We take this opportunity to kindly request wine stakeholders to give their views on the following aspects and email their responses to media@veritas.co.za.

  • Your view of the current vintage in terms of the quality of the main cultivars that you work with in your environment
  • How did the drought of the past two years influence the vineyards and crops
  • How will the smaller crop in 2017 affect the price of wine to the consumer
