Boplaas
Boplaas Family Vineyards in Calitzdorp, synonymous with world-class table wines of Portuguese varieties and Cape Ports, outshone many participants in a tasting of wines which have been aged for 10 years. The Boplaas Cape Vintage Reserve Port 2007 was one of only 19 wines which received a rating of 90 points or more, as published in Wine Magazine.

Of the 41 producers who entered, the Boplaas Cape Vintage Reserve Port 2007 received the highest point of all the Ports entered.

The Boplaas Cape Vintage Reserve Port 2007 came into the competition with a proud reputation: crowned as the SA Champion Port at the SA Young Wine Show in 2007, the recipient of a gold medal at Veritas and being awarded five stars in the Platter Wine Guide in 2010.

This exceptional product is the result of Boplaas’ signature blend of Portuguese varietals, namely Touriga Naçional, Tinta Barocca, Souzão and splash of Touriga Franca for added complexity.  Darker than a moonless Karoo night, with a tinge of bright purple at the rim, this Port is the perfect representation of classic art in a glass. Bullish tannins with hints of fresh plum, sweet apricots, all-spice, loads of liquorice and fynbos, dominate the superbly structured palate.

This Cape Vintage Reserve is the culmination of more than a quarter century’s Port making efforts of the Nel family, to create an almost flawless Cape Port that will age for more than 30 years if stored optimally.
