Avontuur Estate
In May we celebrate one of our favourite varietals, Cabernet Franc. With the release of the 2014 vintage this month, winemaker Jan van Rooyen said that we have reached a milestone of 21 years of making this as a single varietal, with the first one produced in 1996 and written up in the 1998 Platter’s wine guide.

Avontuur Estate is once again the main sponsor of the annual Cabernet Franc Carnival, which takes place on the farm on Saturday, 20 May from 11h00 - 17h00.

For the first time too, the event is going to Gauteng with wineries presenting their wines for tasting and for sale at The Wanderers Club in Johannesburg on Friday, 2 June from 17h00 - 21h00.

If you are a huge Cab Franc fan, the Avontuur Estate event is the only place where you can enjoy a tutored tasting of this year’s Top 6 Cab Franc Challenge winners, which will be presented by CWM and judging panel head Christine Rudman. For more details and how to book visit our website.

National Wine Challenge awards our wines
We ended off April on a high when five of our wines were awarded medals in the annual National Wine Challenge and Top 100 competition. This included a Double Platinum for our Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 and Double Gold for Sarabande 2015. Make sure you visit or email the tasting room at: winery@avontuurestate.co.za or our on-line wine shop to grab some stock! To find out more, visit our website.
