The first-ever release of Vermentino in South Africa will be celebrated with a landmark auction, held both digitally and in real time.

Italian Vermentino is a light-skinned wine grape that makes for a medium-full-bodied wine. The limited edition of 1500 litres of Vermentino produced by Ayama wine farm comprises the first vintage of this type of wine ever grown and produced in the country. The auction is set for 16 June 2017, Youth Day. Appropriately, the event is in aid of youth development, with benefits going to the Perdjie School.

Only 40 tickets are available for members of the public to attend the Cape Town event. Tickets cost R300 each and are available online via wine.co.za. The ticket cost includes drinks and canapes at the close of the bidding and guests will be able to keep their special-edition bidding ballot as a memento of this historic day…

The digital component of the auction will run from 0h00 to 12h00 (midnight to midday) on 16 June 2017. It makes online bidding available to those who are not in Cape Town. This will be live on Ayama’s Vermentino website - http://ayamavermentino.com/ - while the real-time auction takes place from 11h00-12h00 on 16 June 2017.

Date: 16 June 2017
Venue: Roodebloem Studios, 27 Roodebloem Rd, Woodstock, Cape Town.
Time: 10h30 for 11h00
Cost: R300 per person
