Nice to be reminded of the talented jovial van Zyl du Toit and his wine making talents with the release of two new vintages of his wines.

The Allée Bleue L’Amour Toujours 2013 is the estate’s Flagship Red Wine and is a blend of Cabernet Franc (40%), Cabernet Sauvignon (35%), Merlot (20%) and Petit Verdot (5%).

Van Zyl’s notes about the wine say “It has delicate flavours of fynbos, cedar and cigar box, all beautifully wrapped in blackberry fruit. The palate is reminiscent of spice, dark chocolate and cinnamon with elegant and soft tannins. This is a unique wine which will intrigue even the best connoisseur.”

Paired with confit of duck or a rich and delectable oxtail potjie with jacket sweet potatoes, this wine bring out the heart in any meal.

The Allée Bleue Isabeau 2014 is Allee Bleue’s Flagship White wine and is a blend of 68% Chardonnay, 21% Semillon and 11% Viognier.

Van Zyl’s notes about the wine say “The colour is a pale straw hue with shades of green. Abundant citrus and dried apricot welcomes you on the nose. Layers of spicy cinnamon and soft vanilla follow. The palate is silky with elegant flavours of summer fruits and a lingering lemony aftertaste.”

Serve this wine with Thai Style duck breast with a ginger jus and stir fried noodles or chicken and a light saffron sauce with a side salad.

Both these wines can be tasted and purchased at the cellar door at R200.00 per bottle for the Allée Bleue L’Amour Toujours 2013 and R110.00 per bottle for the Allée Bleue Isabeau 2014.
