BCX SuperSport Shootout
A celebration of talent - come rain or shine!

The 2017 BCX SuperSport Shootout was once again a phenomenal success, firmly establishing the Shootout as South Africa’s biggest and most sought after celebrity amateur golf event. Hosted for a second consecutive year at the spectacular Legend Golf & Safari Resort in Limpopo, the generosity of sponsors and guests alike ensured another big cheque was written to the event charities this year. And considering the unrivalled networking opportunities, who wouldn’t want to show their appreciation by putting their hands in their pockets for a good cause?

The ladies’ event took place from 9 - 11 May and was widely lauded as the best one yet by all the participants and guests who were treated to a selection of original and luxury arrival gifts, sumptuous meals, superb entertainment and fabulous weather. This year saw the introduction of a beginner’s golf clinic which proved to be hugely popular amongst the non-playing ladies who were included in the Shootout experience for the first time in the 5 years that the ladies have been teeing it up at the Shootout.

The ladies also made history this year by raising a significant amount for the two nominated charities, namely The Legend Foundation and The Smile Foundation. This was in large part due to a number of ladies handing back their golf prizes to be auctioned off by the dynamite duo of MC’s, Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp and Somizi from Idols fame. The “Night of 1000 Drawings” initiative was very popular amongst the bidders and a tidy sum was raised for the Smile Foundation.

Overall the ladies event had a very positive and truly inclusive atmosphere and the ladies returned to their day-to-day duties happy and relaxed.

The main Ryder Cup-type men’s event took place from 12 - 14 May and was somewhat marred by inclement weather on Saturday, which resulted in only 9 holes being played on day 1. The rain, which is most unusual for this time of year, did not dampen the spirit on and off the golf course. Old friendships were rekindled and new ones were forged against the backdrop of fierce but friendly competition between Team SuperSport and Team BCX, with Imtiaz Patel from Team SuperSport vowing to win the third instalment of the recently introduced Ryder Cup competition. Two-time winning captain, Jabu Mabuza from team BCX had everything to lose and all to play for this weekend and the challenge was graciously accepted.

Sunday saw some much-improved conditions and the gents enjoys a full 18 holes of golf in the sunshine. 2017 Welcomed some first-time participants in the form of a host of 2007 Rugby World Cup winning Springbok team members. As always, the generous gents found true form on Saturday evening during the charity auction and once again managed to dig deep and raise some much-needed funds for the two nominated event charities, namely The Legend Foundation and LIV Villages.

Over the years the Shootout has forged strong relationships with premium partners who recognise the value of having South Africa’s high profile decision makers, influencers and icons as a captive audience for a relaxed few days of networking.

And thanks to various innovative sponsor activations the guests were treated to a whole new Shootout experience making 2017 a roaring success in every way.

For the second consecutive year, the event was held at the spectacular Legend Golf & Safari Resort in the beautiful Limpopo Province of South Africa.
