Peter de Wet, Excelsior Estate, was elected as Chairman of the Robertson Wine Valley Board along with Johann de Wet, De Wetshof Estate, to serve as Vice-Chairman. These two industry giants in the Robertson Wine Valley are raring to help guide the valley to a fruitful future.

Peter is the owner of Excelsior Wine Estate, a family run estate that has been in operation in the Robertson Wine Valley since 1859. Peter is thrilled to have been placed in this instrumental role to form a part of the strategy in overcoming trials currently facing the Robertson Wine Valley and the Wine and Tourism Industry. In addition to chairman, Peter will also be heading up the Tourism portfolio on the board. “I am very excited to be elected to this position. The industry faces challenges, but with a plan and a can-do attitude we can guide our Wine Valley towards a better future,” shared Peter.

Johann is the proprietor at  De Wetshof Estate, also a family run estate that has been well established in the valley since the 1970’s. Similar to Peter, Johann recognises the importance of wine tourism as one of its most valuable components in creating a global awareness of Brand South Africa. In addition to his role as vice chairman on the board, Johann will preside over the Marketing & Strategy portfolio which will have a key focus on improving the image of Robertson Wine Valley as a wine producing region in order to unlock the value of our offerings to benefit wine farmers, grape growers and the community. “The Robertson Wine Valley will be required to identify and grasp new opportunities to assist the South African wine industry in further entrenching its position as a premier international tourism player. This can only be done by furthering our commitment to elevating the image and reputation of the quality of Robertson Wine Valley’s wines,” said Johann.

The valley looks forward to see the valuable input of these two formidable men unfold to help build a better Robertson Wine Valley.
