Avontuur Estate
We’ve started off the new month with a huge bang as our main man Var is named as the Champion two year old sire for the 2016/17 season. To make it even better, our internationally proven sire Oratorio is starting to show his class here as well after being nominated as the “First Season SA Sire Sensation” due to the incredible performances of his progeny on race tracks all over the country.

This is a huge achievement for everyone on the farm and we cannot be happier. For more about their achievements, visit our website.

MARES AND FOALS WALKS OPEN FOR BOOKINGS
Our annual Mares and Foals Walks will take place again this August on Tuesday the 22nd and the 29th from 09h30 - 12h30. We start off with a cup of coffee in the tasting room, which is followed by a guided Farm Walk taking in the paddocks and views of our wonderful brood mares and the first of this year’s foals. After a visit to the stables where Pippa will introduce Var and Oratorio, our winemaker Jan van Rooyen will present a specialised tasting in the tasting room. Your exciting day at Avontuur will end off with a light lunch and a glass of wine, courtesy of our Restaurant. The cost is R300 pp, and bookings and pre-payments are essential at +27.218553450 or winery@avontuurestate.co.za. As space is limited we suggest you book asap to get a spot.

TASTING ROOM SPECIALS A TREAT!
We know fans of our yummy Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot 2014 can never have enough and we have a great deal on a 3-pack this month at only R200. (Usual price: R252). But if you’re more in the mood for something sweet (and a winner with blue cheese or dessert) don’t miss out on the Above Royalty Liqueur Wine where you can buy two bottles for R170. (Usual price: R220). You’re welcome to email Ella or Marcelle at the tasting room to arrange for delivery anywhere in SA if you can’t pop in personally. You can reach them on winery@avontuurestate.co.za.

WINE LISTINGS INCREASE COUNTRY-WIDE
Slowly but surely we’re starting to increase the availability of our wines in Gauteng and with the ongoing efforts of our wine ambassador Heinrich Adams-Witbooi, the list keeps on growing. In the Western Cape long-time sales representative Schalk Honeyman is keeping the wines prominently on display in our partner stores and new wine ambassador Nick Robb is doing the same in the Boland and Overberg area. Regular instore tastings also help to make our wines more visible and win fans every time there’s a tasting. Visit our website to see where you can find our wine!

WINTER DINING AND EARLY BIRDS
The cosy restaurant is always popular and our Early Bird Dinners on Wednesday and Friday evenings from 17h00-19h00 show no sign of slowing down. It’s the perfect spot to stop on the way home and for R180 for 2 courses and R220 for 3, why cook yourself! If you’re in the mood for a full dining experience, the a-la-carte dinner menu is served from 19h00.

BREAKFAST CLUB ON A TUESDAY THIS MONTH
As Woman’s Day is on Wednesday, 9 August and it’s a public holiday, we thought it best to have our breakfast club on Tuesday the 8th. This month Andrea Hendricks will chat about her amazing story of rehabilitation, which is so relevant especially in Woman’s month. Cost: R150 pp. Bring a male guest along and only pay for one. Restaurant Bookings: openhand@polka.co.za or +27.218554296.
