Steenberg wines make the cut for 2017 Sommeliers Selection

The two wines included in what is possibly the ultimate South African wine list, are Steenberg The Black Swan Sauvignon Blanc 2016 and Steenberg Semillon 2016.

Judged entirely by a group of respected local sommeliers who are all members of the South African Sommeliers Association (SASA), the categories for the competition are structured like a wine list in a restaurant. The listed wines all carry the Sommeliers Selection seal of approval.

Showcasing the best fruit of the vintage, The Black Swan 2016 is an elegant expression of the two finest cool climate Sauvignon Blanc vineyards at Steenberg. This top tier Sauvignon Blanc with its unctuous palate and melon, zesty lime and gooseberry notes, was selected in the category for Fresh & Crunchy Whites.

The vibrant, beautifully textured Steenberg Semillon 2016 lives up to its ranking in the category Elegant & Classsy Whites. Whiffs of citrus, pear blossom and vanilla meld with rich layers of infused honey flavours, white grapefruit and fresh apricots on the palate.

Both wines are available at a cellar door price of R195 at the Steenberg tasting room in Constantia and fine wine stores country-wide.
