In the classic story, the cow jumped over the moon. In a recent African version, a feisty Nguni cow jumped off a truck to land in the vineyard, inspiring a fabulous wine range which won two lucky TESCO wine shoppers a trip to … South Africa!

Overhex Wines International ran the successful Survivor Offspring competition in TESCO stores throughout the UK from 1 September 2016 to 31 May 2017, offering wine lovers the opportunity to win a Five-Day Trip to South Africa. Richard Hutchings and Evert Wallien were the lucky winners and they can each nominate a guest to accompany them on what should be a truly special experience.

The charming story behind the Survivor wine range is that of an Nguni cow who accidentally found her way to a vineyard in South Africa’s famous Swartland region. She was named ‘Survivor’ and not only did she survive, she has thrived, producing several offspring.

Launched in September 2015, the Survivor wine range has taken the market by storm and the brand is still growing by leaps and bounds. Motivated by the tremendous success of the Survivor range it was decided to launch a sub-brand, Offspring and this range comprises two delightfully accessible, fruit-driven blends.

The Survivor Offspring competition elicited no less than 12 732 entries and according to Overhex Sales and Marketing Director Chantelle Potgieter, the company is delighted with the response. Apart from the return flights between the UK and South Africa the prizes include, among others, luxury accommodation for the two winners and their guests at the Ambassador Hotel, Camps Bay, Cape Town and at the Marine Hotel in the popular seaside resort of Hermanus. Lunch, as well as a private wine tasting and cellar tour experience at the Overhex Winery and Bistro near Worcester in the Western Cape, are also included. “We look forward to meeting and entertaining the winners and their guests,” says Chantelle.
