Bester Family Wines & Org de Rac join Forces with Chef Mynhardt Cooking Peter Veldsman

On Sunday 27 August at 11:30, chef Mynhardt Joubert will be dishing up a 5-course meal from SA food legend Peter Veldsman's latest recipe book, Wat die hart van vol is... Each dish will be paired with a Swartland wine from Bester Family Wines or Org de Rac organic wine estate.

This singular event will bring to the plate the talents of two chefs who dearly respect each other and represent some of our country’s finest culinary talents, and feature some exceptional vintages from two winemakers who share a long friendship and mutual love of the Swartland’s unique terroir.

Zakkie Bester from Bester Family Wines and Frank Meaker from Org de Rac have known each other since their college days at Elsenburg, and sharing a table with these two gregarious personalities always has the potential to turn into a fun-filled occasion with plenty of interesting stories and anecdotes to enjoy alongside their remarkable wines.

BESTER is a limited range of elegantly crafted Swartland wines developed by Zakkie Bester, a well-known wine personality who, as proud Swartlander, can trace his roots back to his ancestor Andreas Bester who settled in Malmesbury in the 1700s. These days Zakkie and his wife Sandra live in Riebeek Kasteel, with outposts in Cape Town and Malmesbury, where their children design roads and bridges, dictate fashion trends and fix people's spelling mistakes respectively.

The BESTER Family Wines Chenin Blanc will be paired with a marrowbone soup, while the BESTER Family Wines Barbera will be served alongside a tomato stew and Greek rice with oregano and thyme.

The Org de Rac La Verne MCC will be paired with fresh brioche served with honey bush-flavoured butter; the Org de Rac Chardonnay will be served with baked oysters and a soft masala sauce, while the Old Pumphouse Cape Ruby will put the finishing touch on a brandy mousse served with white guavas and white chocolate ice cream.
