Durbanville Hills Cellar
After sampling nearly 1700 wines during his visits to South Africa in March and July 2017, Atkin said that he was extremely impressed with the overall quality of the wine being produced in the region. In his feedback to South African wine producers, Atkin explained that, although the 2015 harvest was a great one, in the right hands, the challenging 2016 harvest yielded spectacular, crisp white wines which was more than he anticipated.
The fact that two of these white varietals came from Durbanville Hills is something that Martin Moore, Cellar Master at Durbanville Hills, sees as an amazing achievement. “We are thrilled about the Rhinofields Sauvignon Blanc 2017 receiving 91 points, but are also extremely proud of the 92-point scoring received by the Tangram White 2016, especially as this is the brand’s very first Tangram white blend.”
Moore says that such an achievement is a team effort. “While a special word of thanks and congratulations must go to the winemaking team for their meticulous crafting of these outstanding wines, everyone involved at the winery contributed to this success story.”
