Org de Rac
Going for gold! This time of the year is wine awards season and… so far so good! This week we found out that five of Org de Rac’s eight entries to the Michaelanglo International Wine and Spirits awards won recognition, with three wines winning gold medals.

Org de Rac’s results are as follows:

  • Org de Rac 2015 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon − Gold
  • Org de Rac 2015 Reserve Merlot − Gold
  • Org de Rac 2016 Die Waghuis Verdelho / Roussanne / Chenin Blanc blend (not yet released) − Gold
  • Org de Rac 2015 Merlot − Silver
  • Org de Rac 2015 Reserve Shiraz − Silver

The Michelangelo International Wine and Spirits Awards is the only international wine competition in South Africa. It is judged by wine experts who are hand picked to represent all the wine producing and wine drinking regions of the world. This year’s panel of 22 judges included experts from the United Kingdom, Argentina, Bulgaria, Chile, France, Israel, Italy, Japan, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Netherlands and Denmark. Entries are judged blind by panels of five judges, using the 100-point International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV) system.

Best farm? Naturally!

On the subject of awards, we’re happy to report that Org de Rac won an award for the “Best Performing Farm” in the Swartland category of the annual Western Cape Prestige Agri Awards. A proud Marius Kotze, Org de Rac viticulturist, is pictured with the award. Thys September received the prize for Best Junior Farm Manager.
