The Veritas Awards is the longest running and most prestigious wine competition in South Africa and is synonymous with excellence in wine. It gives recognition to wines of exceptional quality and the distinctive Veritas symbol serves as an authoritative quality guideline for wine connoisseurs.

As a producer with a focus on Cap Classique, Villiera Wines is proud to announce that they were awarded Veritas Double Gold and Gold in the Cap Classique category.

Villiera Monro Brut 2011 won a Double Gold Medal. This is Villiera’s Prestige Cuvee Cap Classique, made with maturation potential in mind. A blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, it is a complex bottle fermented sparkling wine with extended lees contact of over 5 years.

Villiera Tradition Brut NV garnered a Gold Medal. Tradition Brut has been produced by Villiera Wines since 1984, consistently winning awards. It spends an average of 2 years on the lees (minimum 18 months). A blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier this is a zesty Cap Classique displaying the full balanced yeasty complexity synonymous with a blend of white and red grapes.

This recognition of excellence for the Villiera Monro Brut, amongst its numerous other awards, is a further endorsement of the fine quality and exceptional style of Villiera's prestige wines.

As Double Gold and Gold winners, the Villiera Monro Brut 2011 and Villiera Tradition Brut NV will be included in the Veritas showcase tastings taking place in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban and Port Elizabeth later this month.
