With four 4-star ratings (up from last year’s two), the cellar and vineyard team at Avontuur Estate were celebrating this week as the information contained in the new jalapeno red Platter’s 2018 became known.

The new additions were 4 stars for the 2015 Sarabande Sauvignon Blanc Reserve and the Cabernet Sauvignon 2013, adding to its previous awards, with the Dominion Royale Shiraz Reserve and a new 10-year-old pot-stilled brandy keeping their 4 star rating.

In addition, the Pinotage 2014 and Pinot Noir/Chardonnay 2016 improved on their results which brings the wines with higher scores than in the 2017 guide, up to four.

“We are happy with the results and especially the improvements, and look forward to seeing further increased scores as our work in the vineyards and cellar are translated into reality in the bottle,” says winemaker Jan van Rooyen.

“A big thank you to owners Michael and Philip Taberer as well as Pippa Mickleburgh and her vineyard team for all the support and hard work over the last few years. Now we look forward to sharing these wines with all our fans out there. We hope to see you in the tasting room at the Farm this summer,” he concluded.
