Essentially born into the family business, Takuan has been involved in Haute Cabrière from an early age. Sharing his parents’ passion for wine, he formalised his knowledge by studying wine growing and cellar management in Germany; he further honed his skills working in cellars and vineyards in Germany, France and Australia.
Takuan returned to South Africa in 2004 to join Haute Cabrière in a professional capacity, and until 2012 was involved in the cellar alongside his father, Achim. In 2013, he took over the reins from his father as Cellar Master and Head of Wine.
