As ruby-coloured as its name, this fortified wine exudes warmth, heart and pleasure. Forthright red and black fruit on the nose, with faint whiffs of orange peel and violets, give way to a powerful combination of sweet, ripe fruit (plums, prunes, damsons, mulberries), spice (cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg) and well-integrated alcohol, all providing a warming, but incredibly well-balanced finish. A cheerful and generous wine with plenty of character and body.
