Mediterranean - rainfall ± 650mm per annum. Vineyards situated on northern slopes and at the end of the valley hence slightly warmer conditions.
Soil
Deep red soils. A mixture of weathered granite and a small percentage of clay, Clovelly and Hutton structure.
Vinification/Maturing
The grapes were harvested on 28 February and 10 March 1998. WE 372 yeast was used and fermentation temperature was about 28ºC. Fermentation on the skins took place over a period of 7 days. Malolactic fermentation followed in stainless tanks and the wine was left to mature for 12 months in French oak barrels.
Tasing Notes
Colour : Deep red, bright, purple tints.
Aroma : First smell of crushed blueberries and red fruits, coffee, warm touches of fruits with alcohol.
Pallet : Warm aromas from the maturing in wood, tannins are already blended in a rounded harmonious way, good length.
