The Knysna Loerie - Tauraco corythaix - isurguably one ofthe most beautiful birds of South Africa. A large green bird with a short hooked bill and brilliant red wings, it is usually seen flying between forest trees. Its tall, elegant, rouded crest, which is tipped white, is a distinguishing feature. The Knysna Loerie is only found in the Knysna Forests along the south coast of South Africa.
