ageing : This wine will still be offering much pleasure at age 20.

in the vineyard : Nabucco 2009 was made from the sixth crop of Giulio Bertrand's prized Nebbiolo vineyard and as with its 2006 maiden vintage, Nabucco 2009 returns to 100% pure Nebbiolo.
A cool January led into a hot February and dry March resulting in no interruptions or dilutions of sugars. Cool maritime influences and day/night temperature differences indicated the good quality that was to follow.

Good harvest conditions resulted in a complete wine with loads of structure but keeping the elegance that befits this Italian varietal. It will require a few years for this refined, deeply nuanced wine to come together.

Vineyard: Stellenbosch
Region: Helderberg ward

in the cellar : 15 months in 5% tight grain new French oak and 95% old 300l barriques.
