Bellingham Ancient Earth Pinotage 2010

Deep ruby with a purple tinged rim, revealing liberal ripe raspberry, black cherry and mulberry aromas that follow through on the plush juicy entry well supported by savoury liquorice, clove and cardamom finishing with lashings of ripe berry fruit and lingering oak spice.

May be enjoyed on its own as a social sipping wine or particularly delicious with prune and honey lamb tagine, Hunter's venison stew or Parmigiano melanzane.

AWARDS
2012 Veritas Wine Awards - Bronze Medal

ageing : Smooth and juicy for immediate enjoyment with promising potential to integrate further for up to 5 years from vintage.

in the vineyard : This Pinotage grows on Tygerberg shale and Dirty sandstone dominated soils.

2010 was a short, warm vintage with typically small concentrated bunches of flavourful fruit that produced fine red wines.

about the harvest: Harvested by hand in March between 24° and 25°B for optimal ripe fruit expression.

in the cellar : Slow fermentation on the skins coaxes depth of colour and flavour before malolactic fermentation and maturation in 2nd and 3rd fill French (95%) and American (5%) oak barrels for 9 months. Final blending and bottling take place at our cellar.
