Vintage 2010 is arguably our best Pinot Noir vintage since 2005 and 2007. These were "super" years, but 2010 has achieved a stellar 93 points in the USA, Wine Spectator Magazine (September 2012). This has been our highest ever score for our Galpin Peak blend.
in the vineyard : What makes Pinot noir so special is that it displays both a delicacy and richness, but it is often quoted as depicting little varietal character of its own, but rather expressing the terroir upon which it is grown, hence it carries the crown of being the most terroir expressive of all grape varieties.

in the cellar : This Tête de Cuvee edition is a barrel selection of the best barrels from the 2010 vintage where the wine matured in 100% new wood which means more time is required for the aging and bottle maturation for this bottling. But greater new wood compliment means for eventual greater complexity.

Tête de Cuvée is a limited edition bottling of only the best Pinot noir barrels for any single vintage. It is not produced every year but here is an opportunity to spoil and take advantage of the best of this quality fruit which is traditionally arriving from the same specific terroir. The essence of this particular terroir rests locked up in its soil profile. The truth and reason why it’s so good, remaining a mystery.
