Steenberg Semillon 2013

Light gold with a green hue, ripe tropical fruit on the nose. Aromas of dried apricots, peaches and vanilla the nose. The palate is rich and creamy with lime and citrus notes followed by hints of elder flower and tangerine on the aftertaste.

Best enjoyed with good food and good company.

After a very long and cool ripening season the grapes were harvested in April at 23.5° B.

in the cellar : 
The grapes were crushed and de-stemmed with no prolonged skin contact. The clean juice was racked after settling in stainless steel tanks overnight. Fermentation took place in a combination of 45% new, 24% second and 31% third fill French oak barrels. Only 500L and 600L barrel are used. The wine spent a total of 9 months in barrel, with regular batonage before being racked into a stainless steel tank, where it was lightly fined and stabilized before bottling in January 2013.
