Fairview Oom Pagel Semillon 2013 - OUT OF PRODUCTION

The pale yellow wine offers complex aromas of green pea and granadilla. Medium bodied with a rich, creamy palate with lingering savoury flavours.

Winemaker's Comments
The 2013 vintage is unwooded, suiting the fresher, mineral style and elegant character we experienced from white cultivars in the Darling region. This wine should age beautifully over the next three to five years. - Anthony de Jager

A wonderful pairing for noble seafood or ocean fish.

in the vineyard : The Semillon is from our vineyard in the cool region of Darling on the West Coast of South Africa. Planted on a deep red oakleaf soil, this 2003 vineyard relies on winter rains and the cool Atlantic breeze to produce some of South Africa’s finest Semillon.. Summer canopy management practices include suckering, topping and post-veraison crop-thinning to ensure a balanced canopy and crop load.

about the harvest: Harvest Date: 16 February 2013
The grapes were picked early in the morning at 23 degrees Balling. T

in the cellar : The grapes were destemmed and gently crushed, and the juice was settled and racked into stainless steel tanks for fermentation (only the free run juice was used). The wine was matured on the lees for 10 months prior to bottling.
