Stellenrust Cabernet Franc Rose 2007

A deep pink colour with lots of strawberries and blackcurrents on the nose, but a greener palate with strong floral flavours. This is definitely not a Rosé for the faint hearted. 2007 shows the maiden vintage of a wine made with skill and technique learnt in the Southern parts of France. This then being the only Cabernet Franc Rosé from South Africa and also one in its class.

about the harvest: Cabernet Franc is picked fairly green at 22 Balling (where for red wines it is normally picked at 25 Balling). This is then naturally fermented for about 3 weeks – a very long and tedious process.
