Fairview Viognier 2000

Viognier grows on the gentle slopes at the base of Paarl Mountain on granitic soils. This being a young vineyard, and Viognier traditionally faring best where yields are kept to a minimum.
This is the third vintage of Viognier. It was picked ripe and the juice was treated in the traditional Condrieu manner, before being barrel fermented in 2nd fill French oak.

ageing : The wine drinks well right now, but can be kept for some time.

in the cellar : The Viognier is bright yellow in colour with classic peach and apricot aromas. The palate has an intense rounded mouthfeel with a long concentrated finish.
The wine is intense in flavour and will do well with poultry or pork dishes with cream sauces.
