Level 3 is a highly professional course, suitable for senior
professionals within the wine industry as well as enthusiastic and
knowledgeable wine-lovers who want to acquire a good level of familiarity with
international wines and spirits.
The course lasts for four full and busy days during which
the students will learn about the world’s greatest wine-producing regions, the
factors affecting production, quality, value and style. There will be at least
80 wines and spirits, most of them international, tasted during the course
giving students a thorough grounding in the Systematic Approach to Tasting© a
system used in most major international competitions. This is a rigorous and
intense course which requires students to augment their classroom studies with
further reading in their own time. The course will run on four Wednesdays, two
in May and two in June.
Because there are no internationally recognised sommelier
qualifications available in SA, this course is a popular one with people
working in restaurants as a sommelier and provides an excellent grounding for
people wanting to continue their education with the Court of Master Sommeliers
and other internationally-recognised sommelier qualifications.
All tuition, all course materials, exam fees, food and wine pairings, tasting of
over 80 international and local wines & spirits and a certificate with
lapel pin when you pass are included. Successful students at Level 3 are also
permitted to use the WSET accreditation on their personal correspondence,
business cards etc as well.
