He was a lecturer at Elsenburg Agricultural College and was later considered one of the greatest wine pundits ever. In 1941 he made history with an experimental barrel of the first Pinotage wine in the world.

in the vineyard :  This wine was produced from 29 year old vines. The vineyard is situated on warmer north facing slopes. The soil type is Gravel & Loam. This vineyard produces 5.2 tons per hectare. The grapes were harvested in February 2011.

in the cellar : The pressing of the grapes and the fermentation period takes 14 days. The wine is then aged in 225- litre French Barriques for 12 months, 60% new oak and 40% second fill.
