Not only does Hartenberg produce a range of sterling wines, but it has become a popular picnic destination. Perfect for the whole family a day out to Hartenberg is a must on your to do list this summer. Whilst the adults relax under the trees cooled by the summer breezes the kids will be kept entertained for hours in the play area or alongside the river banks.
Choose a table under the trees or lounge on plump cushions on the lawn with a beautifully packed picnic basket. All ingredients are locally sourced, free-range and complemented by home baked breads.
This season the picnic basket includes the popular Eleanor’s Snoek pâté, caramelised onion dip as well as a selection of the finest local cheeses and charcuterie with unique accompaniments such as an apple and beetroot chutney. Tuck into a delicious rolled stuffed Pork leg or Panko crumbed chicken pops. Complement the meal with a choice of two salads - Quinoa brown rice and roasted vegetables or charred corn, cucumber and tomatoes. The perfect ending to any picnic is something sweet, and the Sea Salt fudge will do just that!
Adding to the picnic experience visitors will be treated to the musical talents of Jacobus Swanepoel and Gerry Liberty. Relax and unwind on the sprawling lawn, sipping on your choice of Hartenberg wines and picnic treats as they create the perfect picnic experience.
Jacobus will be performing on Saturday, 28 November and Gerry will be taking to the ‘stage’ on Saturday, 26 December. Each musician will perform from 12pm to 4pm and there is no additional charge to watch them. However, to create the ultimate experience in a relaxed environment booking for your picnics is required.
