Zandvliet announces first release of its Hill of Enon Chardonnay
05 December 2012  by Zandvliet Estate
Resting upon the clayey, lime-rich soils of the Robertson Valley, Zandvliet Estate has been producing world-class chardonnay of distinct quality and character for many years. Through a fusion of terroir, winemaker and the experience of four generations of De Wets, Zandvliet Estate is proud to announce the first release of its Zandvliet Hill of Enon Chardonnay 2010. The Hill of Enon is the estate's signature range and the chardonnay is indeed a worthy addition as it created quite a stir in pre-release tastings.
In this vintage the soils bring about an array of wonderful flavours and heady aromas to the wine whereas the experience and bold spirit of the winemaking ensure a chardonnay that delights in rich complexity and elegance whilst tempting one's senses with opulent citrus and nutty flavours.

Its brilliant green, straw colour betrays the delicate nose that does not disappoint as aromas of citrus, lime and honeysuckle entice one's senses. The nose follows on to an equally delicate palate with subtle wood integration and notes of grilled cashew that ends in a creamy, smooth finish. The wine is best enjoyed on its own or accompanying a fine meal and pairs exceptionally well with smoked duck.

This is the first Hill of Enon release for winemaker Jacques Cilliers, who was duly assisted by cellar master Paul de Wet and viticulturist, Dan de Wet. The Hill of Enon Chardonnay is the estate's first new wine release in a few years and brings with it palpable excitement for future releases under the experienced hand of Cilliers and the team.

The Hill of Enon Chardonnay 2010 is available at the Zandvliet tasting room and at chosen wine shops. For more information or to purchase the wine, please contact the estate on +27.23 615 1146 or at info@zandvliet.co.za.
