The vineyards are exposed to many different microclimates and almost three quarters of them are un-irrigated. Half of the vineyards are bush vines, which yield a modest average of just fewer than 8 tins per hectare. The dry land bush vines create far better fruit concentration as the bunches have smaller berries that harbour intense colour, added body and brilliant flavours.
The Perdeberg Vineyard Collection Sauvignon Blanc 2015 is part of a new range following on the success of The Dry Land Collection which has been made specifically for Pick n Pay and is available at the very even handed prices one expects from Perdeberg.
It looks like
Attractive label bearing the name of the range and the variety of grape in calligraphy. In the glass is plain golden straw with youthful lime green flashes when held up to the light.
It smells like
Green. Asparagus, scrunched fynbos herbs.
It tastes like
Fresh and crisp. The perfect aperitif wine. Good fruit, a touch of ripe winter melon and a long aftertaste.
It’s good with
Great lunch time glass with a snack. Sam Linsell’s Buttery leeks and cheddar cheese toasted sandwich on sourdough is an ideal foil for the wine. Click here for her recipe.
