Each of the participating wineries will offer a unique programme, allowing patrons to tailor-make their experience according to their own personal preferences, whilst enjoying a welcome alternative to the hustle and bustle of city life.
Participating wine farms include Almenkerk Wine Estate, Arumdale, Belfield Wines, Charles Fox MCC, Corder Wines, Elgin Ridge, Elgin Vintners, Hannay, Highlands Road Estate, Iona, Moya Meaker, Oak Valley, Oneiric, Paul Cluver Wines, Paul Wallace Wines, Robin Hood Legendary Wines, South Hill, Sutherland Vineyards, Terra Madre.
Award winning wines, a delectable culinary experience, a plethora of outdoor activities, live entertainment – ranging from country rock, the blues, 60’s swing, jazz, classic 60’s favourites and indi-rock to rocking dj’s – and natural scenic wonders will ensure that visitors, young and old, enjoy a memorable time in this hospitable valley.
Noted as the coolest wine growing region in South Africa with its high altitude and climate conditions which allow grapes to ripen slowly – requiring a little more patience – but resulting in wines with character defined by excellent purity, distinct minerality, density of fruit and an elegance which can only be described as bottled poetry.
During the lead up to this year’s festival we will be running weekly social media ticket and wine draws with a grand prize. One lucky winner will ‘arrive in style’ in a chauffeur driven luxury vehicle sponsored by the Rola Group Somerset West. Stand a chance to win a spectacular weekend for two in the Elgin Valley as well as a case of wine from the region in our “happy snap” competition during the festival by using the hashtag #ElginCoolFest whenever you post on social media.
Entry tickets to the festival cost R120 pp (over 18’s) and can be bought online from www.webtickets.co.za and include your tasting glass, festival programme, access to participating farms, live entertainment and wine tasting of a selection of three (3) wines of your choice at any of the participating wine estates. Online ticket sales will close on 29 April 2016 after which tickets may be purchased on the day at the Elgin Cool Wine & Country festival office at the Peregrine Farm Stall – these tickets are priced at R140 pp.
Tasting glasses and guest passes must be collected at the festival office at Peregrine Farm Stall prior to visiting any of the farms.
All children younger than 18 and accompanied by an adult may enter for free. Guests are advised to pre-book activities and meals as space is limited and payable separately. Selected wines will be available for purchase at cellar door prices on the day.
