Hotel Spring Gardens
Our Hotel gardens are in full spring-time bloom with our clivias and inca lilies looking particularly breathtaking. Betty and her team dedicate their time to ensuring the gardens are in immaculate condition. Betty has been working at Steenberg for 22 years and remembers a time before the winery, golf course and housing estate were built and when the land was wild and overgrown. How times have changed! At 59 years old, Betty definitely maintains her youth by tending to our gardens!
 
Steenberg Farm Update
There is plenty of work to be done in the vineyards now that spring is upon us. Most of our vines have reached the stage of 4 inch growth. A grape goes through various stages of development, namely: 1) Dormant 2) Early Bud Swell 3) Late Bud Swell 4) Bud Burst 5) 1 to 3 Inch Shoots 6) 4 to 8 Inch Shoots 7) 10 to 16 Inch Shoots 8) Immediate Pre-Bloom 9) First Bloom 10) Fruit Set 11) Veraison. Very soon, these 4 inch shoots will deliver healthy grapes with beautifully concentrated flavours for Harvest 2017!

Chef Kerry Kilpin has just arrived back from a whirlwind tour of Barcelona and London. Her mission? To taste as many tapas dishes and different flavours as possible. Recipe for Success Featuring Chef Archie Maclean
On Tuesday, 27 September, Chef Archie featured on Reuben Riffel's newest show, Recipe For Success on the Home Channel. In this episode, Student Chef Thulile cooked for Chef Archie in the hopes of securing a position in his kitchen. Thulile must have impressed, as Chef Archie offered her a place in his kitchen right there and then!
