Wellington Wine Route
Explore the beautiful town of Wellington this summer with their Unwind Wellington campaign, which highlights some of the region’s unique attractions. Enjoy the award-winning wines of South Africa’s best terroir region against the backdrop of amazing scenic beauty and rural hospitality.

Tantalise your taste buds by enjoying wine pairings with a difference. Wellington Wines are offering a delightful pairing with ice cream-filled pancakes at their Bovlei Tasting Room - perfect for a hot summer’s day. Enjoy the taste of Christmas with a specialised pairing featuring favourite festive season flavours including potato salad, smoked chicken, fruit cake and trifle. If you want to avoid long queues to stock up before the festive season, make use of the Wellington Wines Drive Thru Wine Shop at Stokery Weg each Saturday in December from 10h00 -14h00.  Simply order, pay and collect.

For another great wine experience, visit Imbuko Wines. Get into the festive spirit by trying their Christmas cookies and wine pairing or the new gourmet pie and wine tasting.  Don’t miss their Christmas Warehouse Sale for wines of great quality and value.

Escape the kitchen and try some of Wellington’s fabulous restaurants. The Local Grill at Val du Charron will be doing a sumptuous Christmas lunch buffet and a delicious three-course menu for New Year’s Eve. For a more casual dining experience, try their newly opened Piz-e-Vino restaurant with delicious food, a cracker cocktail menu and special splash pool for the kids. The Stone Kitchen at Dunstone offers a Wednesday special with one free kid’s meal when adults order a main course. On Fridays, visitors can enjoy a gourmet lamb burger with a Bergrivier craft beer for only R100, while the dinner special includes a free glass of wine. At Au de Hex restaurants guests can opt for a picnic or al fresco lunch under the trees or on the jetty next to the dam.  Go for a relaxing river or vineyard walk at Doolhof Wine Estate before enjoying a romantic picnic or laid-back lunch.

Discover the region’s unsurpassed natural beauty on horseback at Mooibly Cottages. The two-hour sessions are for experienced riders only and limited to small group of two to three riders. Booking is essential.

Accommodation options are varied and range from 5-star luxury to casual farm stays.  For a relaxing overnight stay on a working wine farm, the tranquillity at Olifantskop Cottage is unbeatable. With uninterrupted views of the Wellington Valley, visitors can unwind and even go catch-and-release bass fishing at one of the two dams on the farm.
