Hartenberg Doorkeeper Shiraz 2010

Saturated, deep black-red. The full aroma displays rich, concentrated spice, chocolate plumminess with violet and savory notes. The wine's palate is rich, yet subtle. The tannins are soft and ripe, but they give a lot of structure. The flavor shows roasted coffee, vanilla toast and a long rich savory aftertaste. Our vineyard soils are able to contribute top quality, full-flavored richly-structured fruit that is able to dominate the wine.

in the cellar : An expression of what Hartenberg Estate is able to do with Shiraz in a younger, modern and upfront wine style. The Shiraz fruit is all Estate grown and includes younger parcels of Shiraz which are wonderfully expressive and offer earlier accessibility. The label displays the original door-keep on the historic doors of the Hartenberg underground facility, where the wine is matured, prior to bottling. There is also a hidden/unspoken symbolism that the Doorkeeper Shiraz gate-keeps for the triumvirate of other Shiraz"s in the Hartenberg portfolio.
