Patriotism is a personal conviction. “Steytler Pinotage” is our patriotic devotion to the trials and tribulations of mastering Pinotage since its earlies beginnings right here in the Bottelary Hills. As this is South Africa’s only truly original grape, we are fixated on flaunting its finesse to the world. With this wine we pay homage to George Steytler who farmed Kaapzicht for 33 years.

in the vineyard : From a block of bush vines planted in 1995 on Koﬃeklip soils. These weathered soils are low potential and unirrigated. Yields are between 5 -7 tons per hectare.

in the cellar : From one block of old bush vines on the estate, these grapes are hand harvested and whole-berry fermented with a cultured biodynamic yeast. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks until dry and aged for 20 months in 80% new oak.
