Zidela Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot 2002

Deep red with crimson tints. Good berry, black berry and cherry fruit flavours. Well-structured entrance with in mouth flavours of red berry fruits and cassis. Medium-full mid palate with well-rounded tannins and a lingering bold aftertaste.

in the vineyard : The grapes were selected from trellised vineyards grown in the red, calcareous, strongly structured soils o­n the mountain slopes of the Robertson region. The vines are grafted onto mostly 101-14 and R99 rootstock.

in the cellar : The Merlot grapes from the cool slopes were picked at an average of 24º Balling and the Cabernet Sauvignon at an average of 23.3º Balling. The wine was fermented in stainless steel utilizing pump over to keep the ‘cap’ of the fermenting juice wet.
