in the vineyard : Vergenoegd Wine Estate makes use of Tinta Barocca for the production of their Port which they have been producing since 1986. The 26 year old vines are grown on deep rich alluvial soils laid down by the Eerste River in former years. Harvesting only takes place when the grapes are fully ripe to capture as much natural flavour in the final wine as possible.

about the harvest: Harvest Date: 13 March 2000

in the cellar : 24 months in used 225 litre oak barrels.
Bottling date: 10 February 2003
