Intense deep ruby colour. Ripe cherries, plums and cinnamon on the nose. Good fruit and tannin structure, fruit cake with hints of liquorice. Nice dry finish.

in the vineyard : Vergenoegd Wine Estate makes use of the Tinta Barocca grape for the production of their Port which they have been producing since 1986.

These 25 year old vines are grown on the deep rich alluvial soils laid down by the Eerste River in former years.

about the harvest: Harvesting only takes place when the grapes are fully ripe to capture as much natural sweetness and flavour in the final wine as possible. The grapes were harvested on the 03 March 1998 at 26º Balling.
