Simonsig Adelberg Sauvignon Blanc 2012

With its bright colour and youthful green tinge this wine flaunts delicious tropical fruit flavours with hints of green fig. Complex layers of fresh, crisp fruit play on the palate with zesty acidity contributing to a well balanced and enjoyable Sauvignon Blanc.

A dash of Semillon was first added to this Sauvignon Blanc in 2001, following the style of the famous white Bordeaux wines. It is the sister wine of the well known Simonsig Adelberg Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot red blend.

in the vineyard : The 2012 vintage will be remembered as a very dry year with the lowest rainfall logged in our records since 1976; 33% below our long term average. While yields were slightly lower than in 2011, cooler conditions resulted in better quality and more concentrated fruit.

about the harvest: The 2012 harvest started little later than usual on 18 January and ended 87 days later on 13 April. Despite the drought, the cool growing season resulted in good levels of acidity and the concentration of the fruit was better than during the warm 2011 vintage. The Sauvignon blanc is a prime example and the young wines all show beautiful, crisp green pepper and gooseberry flavours.
