Klein Constantia Estate Blend 2012

Rich dark fruit on the Nose with black cherries, mulberries and a hint of wood spice giving off some beautiful paprika and vanilla tones. Big concentration of fruit on the palate that is rounded off with some grippy velvety tannin that lingers.

2012 was the first vintage for Klein Constantia under new ownership. The aim for the 2012 Estate Red was to make the wine as elegant and terroir specific as possible. We focus on the red varietals that do best at Klein Constantia, thus only Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Malbec have been included in the blend.

about the harvest: Each parcel is carefully identified and blocks are split into multiple portions in order to harvest everything at the utmost perfect ripeness.

in the cellar : Everything is then bunch and berry sorted to ensure that only the healthiest ripe berries are selected. There is minimal extraction during fermentation and Malo-lactic fermentation take place in barrel 60 % new French oak after alcoholic fermentation and then is aged for 16 months before blending and bottling.
